Edward Mann are recruiting for a business operating in the Transport/Rail sector, based in South East London. Our client is looking to bring on a Head of Finance to lead the Finance function and effectively support business strategy.

We’re looking for a candidate who has proven experience in a similar level position, leading a Finance Team. Our client also offers an excellent benefits package.

This position will report into the Finance Director.

Overview of responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance Team (6)
  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and analysis of performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage the preparation of annual statutory accounts, maintaining effective relationships with external big4 auditors.
  • Lead the budgeting and long-term financial planning process, preparing ad-hoc, annual and five-year plans.
  • Business Partner with department managers to provide financial insights, helping them to manage their departments effectively within budget
  • Constantly look to improve processes where possible, implementing efficient tools, processes and systems.
  • Ensure financial policies and procedures re implemented to maintain strong internal controls.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including transactional and general ledger.
  • Produce insightful financial analysis, using data to support with investment proposals and other business projects/improvements.
  • Effectively manage cash-flow processes and ensure tax compliance, including VAT, corporation tax, and R&D.
  • Support the development of business strategies, developing effective working relationships with senior stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Enhance KPI analysis and reporting, prepare board materials, and support other activities as needed by the SMT.
  • Lead and participate in ad-hoc projects and responsibilities as and when required.

Candidate requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar level position, leading an entire finance function
  • Experienced in both technical and commercial accounting
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Previous team management experience is essential
