This role as Head of Finance requires a strategic mind with a flair for numbers, ensuring financial stability within the not-for-profit sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Accounting & Finance department in London.

Description

Key duties for the Head of Finance are as follows:

  • Provide line management and strong effective leadership and support for the members of the 5 person finance team
  • Manage and minimise financial risk
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement in the College's finance function, ensuring that the Group's policies and procedures for payroll, pensions, fee billing, debt collection, credit cards are implemented effectively.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing the Group's annual report and accounts.
  • Work with the Head of Senior School and Head of Junior School to effectively manage their respective management accounts and budgets.
  • Liaise with the external auditor to enable them to operate effectively.
  • Prepare quarterly information for the lending bank.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts and monthly management accounts for the College. Ensure robust financial controls are in place and routinely followed.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts monthly. Ensure VAT returns are accurate and prepared on a timely basis.
  • Lead on fee billing and fee collection processes, ensuring that parents/ carers are billed accurately and promptly; and monies are collected in line with permissions.
  • Ensure the implementation of robust debt collection processes and report regularly to the respective Head of School and CFO on the status of fee debtors.
  • Oversee the group's payroll process

Profile

A successful Head of Finance should have:

  • Must have either the ACA or ACCA qualification
  • An experienced and successful business leader with a proven track record of successfully developing, managing, and facilitating change through outstanding leadership and effective management
  • Experience of payroll management, strong understanding of payroll legislation, pensions, payment services regulation and contract law
  • Knowledge and experience of VAT.
  • Aptitude for developing finance systems and technology
  • A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
