Based: Central London

A well-known, private equity backed, telecommunications business is recruiting a Head of Finance to lead their accounting team. You will report to the Finance Director, deputising for them and leading on high profile projects. You will lead the finance team effectively and maintain high colleague engagement levels and cross functional collaboration.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly performance reports and group consolidated statements. You will oversee the financial processes and accounting policies, ensuring all external reporting to shareholders, banks, and third parties is effectively managed. A key aspect of your role will be managing liquidity and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating the production of monthly management accounts—comprising P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements—and providing this information to the FP&A and Finance Business Partnering teams. This will support performance analysis, board reporting, and informed decision-making. You will take full ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring accurate accounting and reconciliation of all assets and liabilities, as well as managing capex reporting, VAT, and other financial reporting aspects such as FX and payroll.

Additionally, you will lead the Central Finance and Accounts Payable functions, overseeing accounting policies, transactional accounting, treasury, tax, supplier payments, and reporting to the Board, shareholders, and bank lenders. You will also manage the fixed asset register, ensuring that capex projects are documented accurately.

A critical part of your role will be to ensure robust internal controls are in place and regularly reviewed. This includes compliance reporting, stock takes, bad debt provisions, and impairments. You will work on enhancing financial systems and handle various ad hoc accounting projects, collaborating closely with commercial finance, treasury, and operations teams.

You will lead the production of annual financial statements and manage the audit timetable and process. Reporting on cash flow and producing weekly and monthly forecasts will also be part of your responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with proven leadership experience in a fast-growing, medium-sized business. You should have a track record of delivering high-quality month-end and financial reporting in a demanding environment. Experience in a fast-growth SME and familiarity with stock and warehousing issues would be highly advantageous.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to leverage their leadership skills and accounting expertise in a vibrant and fast-paced business environment.
