An exciting opportunity has arisen within one of the UK's most known and loved charity for a Head of Financial Accounts. This important position will report into the Director of Financial Accounting and oversee the Financial Accounting team, made up of a number of permanent and interim staff. You'll be responsible for ensuring strong financial controls are in place, motivating and managing the team (particularly through busy periods), taking a lead on the year-end financial statements, and overseeing the annual audit. The role will pay circa £67,000 per annum and requires two days a week in the central London offices.As the Head of Financial Accounts your role will involve:
- Overseeing the financial accounting team, made up of a number of permanent and interim staff across the organisation and its various subsidiaries
- Taking a lead on the year-end accounts preparation
- Being the main point of contact throughout the annual audit
- Overseeing the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Ensuring strong financial controls are in place
The ideal Head of Financial Accounts will be:
- A qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience
- Experience either leading year-end within the charity or public sectors; or auditing charities while working within an accounting practice
- Passionate about working for a wide-reaching organisation with a strong social purpose
- Experienced in VAT submissions and strong with financial systems
