About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of FP&A to join a leading university on an interim basis. This 6-month fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity for a finance professional with a strong public sector background to make a meaningful impact.

As the Head of FP&A, you will lead the university's financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis functions, ensuring robust financial management and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the university’s financial planning and analysis function, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, providing expert insight to inform decision-making.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial performance reports, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic financial advice and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth.
  • Manage the preparation of financial models and scenario planning to support major projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, ideally at a senior level within the public sector or higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector financial regulations, funding models, and reporting requirements.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a track record of influencing at the executive level.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and tools, with strong Excel and modeling capabilities.
