Newly created Head of Revenue is now available at a growing law firm, taking overall responsibility for the management of their working capital.

Reporting into the Legal & Business Services Finance Director, this role is critical in ensuring robust financial management through effective and efficient operation of our billing and credit control functions and alignment to industry best practice on WIP and debt management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient functioning of the credit control and billing processes and teams across the firm
  • Provide a single point of contact within the Finance team for executive level reviews of our WIP and debt balances
  • Lead a global team of credit controllers and billing specialists - currently approximately 15 people, but with anticipated growth
  • Matrix management of support staff in other reporting lines who perform billing or credit control tasks as part of their wider responsibilities
  • Responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of globally standardised processes for billing and credit control, aligned to industry best practice
  • Demonstrate experience of ownership of billing and collections processes
  • Work closely with the wider Finance team to provide clear and consistent financial reporting
  • Developing and maintaining KPI reporting to track the efficiency of our working capital management and related processes
  • Lead the relationship with our external third party debt collection agency
  • Support fee earners on miscellaneous queries relating to WIP and debt balances

Experience & skill set needed for the role:

  • Previous experience working in a Head of/ Senior manager role within a Revenue Management/ Working Capital team of a law firm is essential.
  • Strong people management skills - at least 3 years' experience of leading and developing billing and credit control teams is essential.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of leading or being heavily involved in billing and credit control improvement projects and confidence to interact at executive level, with the ability to influence behaviour at Partner and senior management level.
  • The firm uses Aderant but this is not an essential requirement but a 'nice to have'.

Additional:

This role can based anywhere in the UK (including Northern Ireland), Channel Islands or Ireland. A large office for them is Jersey but there is no requirement to relocate to the Channel Islands as candidates can work remotely.
