City & Capital are currently working with a rapidly growing real estate finance lender who are looking to appoint an experienced & dynamic CRO/Head of Risk to head up activity for their flagship lending arm.

This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for all risk within the business across the full lending cycle.

You will report directly to the Group CEO & will take ownership of all risk functions.

Our client is experiencing substantial growth having doubled in size for the 6th consecutive year and are looking for someone with a proactive mindset who can lead from the front in this critical area.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Governance & Framework:

· Develop, implement, and maintain a robust enterprise-wide risk management framework aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

· Establish and oversee risk appetite statements and risk tolerance levels.

· Develop and implement a comprehensive risk culture across the organisation.

Risk Identification & Assessment:

· Proactively identify, assess, and prioritise key risks across all business areas, including operational, financial, strategic, reputational, compliance, and technological risks.

· Conduct thorough risk assessments, including quantitative and qualitative analyses, to understand the potential impact and likelihood of risks.

· Develop and maintain a risk register that accurately reflects the organisation's risk profile.

Risk Mitigation & Control:

· Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and controls across the organisation.

· Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of key controls.

· Work closely with business units to ensure the effective integration of risk management into their operations.

Risk Reporting & Communication:

· Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management, the Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.

· Clearly communicate risk information to all levels of the organisation.

· Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk incidents and near misses.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and internal audit.

Primary Objectives - Compliance

Compliance Framework:

· Design, implement, and maintain effective compliance programs, including policies, procedures, training materials, and monitoring systems, covering areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, cyber-security and UK GDPR.

· Establish and execute a comprehensive compliance monitoring and audit program to detect and prevent threats. Oversee internal and external audits related to compliance.

· Oversee compliance-related activities of third-party vendors.

Team Management

· Lead, manage, and mentor the compliance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

· Ensure delivery of a robust compliance training program to employees at all levels to promote awareness and understanding of relevant regulations and policies.

· Oversee the maintenance and update of compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations and best practices.

Compliance reporting & Communication

· Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities as required.

· Collaborate with other departments to integrate compliance into business operations. Communicate effectively with senior management and the board of directors on compliance matters.

Risk & Compliance Reporting

· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

· Advise senior management and the Board of Directors on all Risk & Compliance regulatory developments and their potential impact on the business.

· Represent the company in regulatory interactions as needed.

· Manage the compliance budget effectively.

· Enhance the reputation of the business as a key senior team member, 'face of the business’.

On Offer:

The basic salary for this role is up to c£250k - c£275k, with a salary range based on experience. Higher offers may be considered for exceptional talent and experience. Salary will be complemented by an annual discretionary bonus that will further enhance earnings.
