Description

  • Lead on horizon scanning and oversee the application, implementation and regular periodic reviews and updating of the firm's policies, controls and procedures.
  • Collaborate to make improvements to systems and processes.
  • Drafting and updating Risk policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Identify potential risks in the organisation and implement preventive measures.
  • Work with the firm's EU Claims Counsel to oversee the management of the firm's complaints and claims policies and procedures, and line managing the Professional Indemnity Manager.
  • Oversee the EU elements of the firm's professional indemnity and related insurance arrangements and take the lead with managing relationships with insurers and brokers.
  • Ensure Risk & Compliance registers are properly maintained, and regular reports are produced to keep the Regional Divisional Leaders in each fee earning division informed of relevant issues and liaise with the International Risk & Compliance Director regarding issues of which they should be aware.
  • Conduct risk assessments and present reports to the senior management team.
  • Develop training programs to educate staff about risk management.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in risk management.

Profile

Essential requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in the risk and compliance function of a leading law firm.
  • A lawyer with previous experience in a similar role would be ideal.
  • An understanding of the nature of UHNW clients and transactions.
  • Experience in delivering regulatory advice.
  • Demonstrable experience of involvement in delivery of change projects.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, managing a team.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of law firm legal and regulatory obligations relating to client and matter selection and inception (in particular conflicts of interests, data protection, claims/complaints and client care matters.
