Meraki Talent is working with a Corporate Finance Advisory firm who are currently on an exciting journey in their growth stage and keen to bring on board a Head of Valuations into the firm.As Head of Valuations, you will have the opportunity to become an equity Partner/joint owner within the firm, this can be discussed throughout the interview process.Our client:An owner managed Corporate Finance Advisory firm specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for privately owned businesses. They provide services such as company sales, acquisitions, management buyouts, and fundraising, often collaborating with private equity firms and international buyers.Their expertise spans multiple sectors, Including Technology, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Business Services, and Education. With a strong track record of successful deals, they offer partner-led advisory support to help business owners navigate complex transactions.Due to the continued success of their M&A team and interest from clients and wider network in Valuations services, the firm is now keen to move forward and build a Valuations practice to compliment the great work of other teams. There is a team in place at present with Valuations experience, but they now seek an out and out Valuations leader to build the team further and a successful service line.Head of Valuations:The overall Game Plan in the Valuations Space will include a selection of key criteria the firm wish to work toward, these include:

  • Establish Market Credibility - The firm needs to quickly establish its reputation in the valuations market. This can be achieved by leveraging existing corporate finance/M&A relationships.
  • Secure Early Wins - Focus on quick-turnaround, high-impact projects such as independent business valuations for deals already in progress. This will build credibility and internal buy-in.
  • Develop a Multi-Disciplinary Offering - Expand from M&A-driven valuations into financial reporting, tax valuations, dispute resolution, and strategic advisory to ensure diversification.
  • Invest in Thought Leadership - Publish insights, host webinars, and engage with industry bodies to position the firm as an authority in the valuation space.
  • Leverage Technology & Data Analytics - Introduce valuation modelling tools, automation, and advanced data analytics to provide differentiated, high-quality valuations.
  • Grow the Team - Once demand stabilizes, build out a team of valuation specialists with expertise in different industry sectors and valuation methodologies.
  • Embed Valuations into the Wider Corporate Finance Offering - Ensure valuations are a core part of M&A, due diligence, and strategic advisory services rather than a standalone function.

Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership & Business Development:

  • Market Positioning - Define and implement the firm’s valuation service offering, aligning it with the broader Corporate Finance strategy.
  • Business Development - Identify and target key markets, build relationships with potential clients, and develop a strong pipeline of valuation engagements.
  • Revenue Generation - Create and execute a strategy to ensure the valuations service line becomes a profitable revenue stream.
  • Cross-Selling & Synergies - Leverage existing relationships in M&A, Transaction Services, and Corporate Finance to drive valuation opportunities.

Service Line Build-Out & Execution:

  • Service Offering Definition - Develop methodologies, templates, and best practices for valuations across financial reporting, M&A, tax, litigation, and disputes.
  • Operational Set-Up - Establish processes, quality control frameworks, and compliance with relevant valuation standards (IVS, IFRS, FRS 102, etc.).
  • Hiring & Team Development - Recruit and mentor a team of valuation professionals to support the growth of the practice.

Technical Delivery & Client Advisory:

  • Complex Valuations - Lead the preparation of business valuations for M&A transactions, financial reporting, tax structuring, and disputes.
  • Stakeholder Management - Act as the lead advisor to corporate clients, owner managed businesses.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensure valuations adhere to UK and international valuation standards, and liaise with auditors, regulators, and tax authorities where needed.
