Camden is seeking an Income Team Leader to lead a dedicated team in managing income collection and arrears prevention. If you have strong leadership skills, a background in housing income recovery, and a desire to make a positive impact on residents' lives, we want to hear from you!THE ROLEAs the Income Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of officers to deliver a person-centred housing income collection service across Camden. You will oversee income recovery processes, respond to customer enquiries, and ensure effective debt prevention strategies are in place. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a team focused on income collection for Camden's housing stock, from early intervention to initiating possession proceedings and attending court
  • Responding to customer enquiries and complaints, and identifying opportunities for early intervention and service improvement
  • Making financial decisions around repayment options and debt enforcement, in line with policy and procedures
  • Ensuring the timely and effective management of rent accounts, prioritising specific tasks such as court preparations and evictions
  • Monitoring accounts on a weekly basis to maximise income collection and reduce arrears
  • Collaborating with other services to ensure the effective provision of housing and support services
  • Promoting tenancy sustainment by taking proactive steps in resolving arrears issues and providing holistic support to tenants
THE CANDIDATETo be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in income recovery or debt collection, preferably within a local authority or housing association setting. You should have proven leadership abilities, with a track record of driving performance and delivering excellent customer service. Additional experience required:
  • Experience in managing a team and providing support to achieve targets and deliver results
  • Strong knowledge of debt recovery best practices and legal processes relating to housing income
  • Understanding of welfare benefits and how they impact rental income
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, colleagues, and external agencies
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace and in service delivery
