About the Role:My client is seeking a skilled VAT Manager to oversee their UK VAT affairs of their organization. This role involves managing VAT compliance, including preparing and filing returns, and offering expert technical support across departments. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for VAT-related queries, ensuring compliance with regulations and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit quarterly UK VAT returns and meet other compliance obligations (e.g., annual adjustment, capital goods scheme).
  • Provide VAT support and advice to departments on queries and cross-department projects.
  • Offer VAT/GST support to overseas offices as needed.
  • Maintain VAT procedures and ensure adherence to the VAT risk and governance framework.
  • Liaise with HMRC and represent the organization on VAT-related issues.
  • Support industry representation and lobbying on VAT issues affecting the business.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Strong data analysis skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain tax matters to non-specialist audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working with various departments and external contacts.
  • Solid understanding of UK VAT compliance and partial exemption.
  • Proactive problem-solver with experience in managing VAT compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Accountancy or tax qualification preferred (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CTA), but not essential if equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
