Our client, a listed media business with a global footprint, are seeking a qualified FP&A Controller on a 12-month contract basis to take ownership of the full P&L for one of their largest business units. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail, a skilled communicator who can influence at all levels, and a hands-on manager comfortable rolling up their sleeves.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full P&L for the marketing business, providing in-depth analysis and insights
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models and forecasts
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations
  • Collaborate closely with marketing leadership to support strategic decision-making5
  • Present financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Provide financial guidance on new initiatives and investment opportunities
  • Support the development of business cases for key projects
  • Produce regular financial reports and KPI dashboards for senior management
  • Analyse marketing spend effectiveness and return on investment5
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the marketing business
  • Develop ad-hoc analyses to address specific business questions
  • Streamline and enhance financial processes and systems
  • Implement best practices in financial planning and analysis
  • Mentor and develop junior team members

Required Skills:

  • Advanced financial modelling and forecasting
  • Deep understanding of P&L management and analysis
  • Proficiency in data visualisation and storytelling with financial information
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate financial insights into strategic recommendations
  • Experience with budgeting and performance management processes
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in FP&A, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Expert in Excel/ Google Sheets
  • Comfortable working in a manual environment with limited automation
  • Experience in the media industry highly advantageous
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
