Interim Schools Business Manager - Local Authority

We are currently supporting a Local Authority here in London in their search for an Interim Schools Business Manager

  • Support the Council's finance function in the provision of quality services.
  • Support the Senior Financial Manager in monitoring key areas of expenditure and income and provide analysis that help drive and influence future decision making.
  • General oversight of the monthly reporting process, including details review of the Balance Sheet
  • Create new cost centres and new budget codes to tailor the needs of the different budget holders
  • Various financial project work, which includes assisting with the year- end accounts, redesigning the management accounting reports, helping complete the month end accounts when required, agency and staff cost analysis, contracts register review and review of the invoicing and systems processes
  • Provide financial management services including budgeting both revenue and capital, budget monitoring, analysis of trends in provision and commentary etc. to the Children and Families Section of South Education Finance, particularly services relating to Education Access - Admissions, Alternative Provision and PRU, Free School Meals, Information and Advice, School Transport and Travel Assistance, Post 16, Virtual School Headteacher, Pupil Premium LAC, Pupil Tracking and Education Access Management.
  • Attend meetings with individual service managers to manage variances in budgets and determine realistic management actions to address them whilst tracking efficiency savings.
