A Japanese bank is currently recruiting an Operations Planning Manager to work in their London office.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing operational workflows(middle/back office) and related systems for new financial products, enhancing existing operations, and conducting post-trading processes.
The ideal candidate should have strong operational planning skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in middle/back office functions.
Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese skill is essential.

Manager, Operations Planning Main Responsibilities:
Operations
- Plan and implement the operational workflows and related systems for new businesses discussing and liaising with the relevant counterparties in Tokyo or other overseas entities as necessary
- Enhance and streamline the existing operations and settlement workflows
- Organise UAT for system implementation or enhancement projects
- Setting up client accounts on our system
- Exchange Standing Settlement Instruction (SSI) with counterparty for on-boarding client
Middle Office (Japanese Equity, MTN and other financial instruments to be launched in future)
- Setting up client sub accounts for allocations
- Conducting Post-Trading Process: (Averaging Prices, Allocation to each fund, Calculation of commissions, Sending Pre-Confirmations and Confirming trade matching of transactions)
- Correction of transactions: if un-matched trades occur, matching via communication with the clients or custodians in cooperation with relevant counterparties in Tokyo
- Reconcile commission report for stock trading with relevant counterparties in Tokyo
Back Office (Japanese Equity, MTN and other financial instruments to be launched in future)
- Release instructions and monitor settlement status
- Release fund transfer instruction
- Verify client trade / IPO confirmation
- Confirm transaction data is reflected in the company’s accounting system
- Monitor the fund level in custody account for settlement
- Chase the client & their custody for clearing of outstanding settlement transactions
- Verify regulatory ledger(s) related to stock transactions
- Verify the reports/statements for the client
- Reconcile settlement instructions against transactions
Others
- Make Day-to-day Reports relating to the roles and above responsibilities to the CEO
- Collaborate with different stakeholders for routine / working on ad. Hoc tasks
Manager, Operations Planning Ideal Candidate:

- 5 yrs or more experience at middle/back office
- Business level fluency in both English and Japanese
- Ability to find the concerns and to-dos to launch new businesses and solve or complete it from operations and settlement points of view
- Ability to independently and initiatively solve failures of / problems in clients’ transactions in cooperation with colleagues in Tokyo HQ in charge of broker leg transactions
