We are thrilled to be working with a long-established, multi-award-winning development finance team, based within a prestigious specialist lender with a Head Office in London. Due to an exciting period of company growth, we are looking for an experienced Lending Director to join their upbeat and dynamic team.

This role involves originating, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of property development loans. You will be supported by a team of credit support and portfolio managers.

The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years/ strong expertise in residential and commercial specialist property lending (development finance) and have an established network within the sector.

Job Title: Lending Director

Location: Home-based with occasional travel to London Head Office

Salary: Competitive, based on experience (six figures), plus corporate benefits.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm

Responsibilities Required for the Role of Lending Director

  • Originate a portfolio of high-quality property development loans, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial targets.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of deals, from initial inquiries and proposals to loan drawdown and ongoing monitoring, supported by the Case Management team.
  • Take primary responsibility for a portfolio of customer relationships, ensuring loans are conducted in line with expectations through to full repayment.
  • Enhance the lender’s profile within the residential and property industry through proactive marketing, intelligent deal structuring, and exceptional customer service.
  • Drive lending volume and profitability, meeting and exceeding strategic objectives.
  • Critically review internal processes to ensure they remain efficient, effective, and robust.
  • Develop and maintain a database of potential customers.

Experience and Skills Required for the Role of Lending Director

  • Proven track record in residential and commercial property lending. Preferred experience is from direct development finance lender, or a specialist bridging lender that deals with crossover products, such as heavy refurb.
  • Extensive network within the UK commercial property sector, including borrowers, lawyers, valuers, and other intermediaries.
  • In-depth knowledge of property development and a passion for the industry.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and the ability to create innovative funding solutions.
  • Excellent literacy and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to write 2 credit papers per month.
  • Ability to manage a current portfolio of 25mill+, with a realistic target of 60million.
  • Ability to self-manage diary, without the need for micro-management, with proven experience of managing the end-to-end deal lifecycle.
  • High-level analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively at all levels.
  • Known on social media platforms and comfortable present at expos etc
  • Experience originating business through direct and broker channels.
