Market Risk / Product Control Project Manager (Energy Trading, ETRM, Complex Valuations).

Certain Advantage are recruiting on behalf of our Energy Trading client for a Market Risk/Product Control PM.

**This is not a generic Project Manager role for all PMs to consider**.

We're seeking experienced energy market specialists who can bring demonstrable project management experience working within the Market Risk / Product Control space. You'll have worked within a business that operates in energy trading markets and gained experience with ETRM systems and complex valuations for energy trading transactions (e.g. Tolling, PPAs, Battery, Gas etc).

The role and responsibilities

Working closely with the Market Risk team you'll join at an exciting time of change as a new ETRM system (Endur) is being implemented.

You'll be the Project Manager responsible for the successful delivery of the ETRM migration across the Gas, Power and Carbon trading business.

  • Act as key point of contact for Market Risk; being a subject matter expert who can advise and implement best practice in the energy industry.
  • Develop and in-depth understanding of new valuation engine, including models associated with complex transactions (Tolling, PPAs, Batteries, Gas Transport and Storage).
  • Upskilling of Market Risk staff with respect to new ETRM/technology stack. This includes providing training on Endur and new technology offering as subject matter expert.
  • Embedding of controls, and implementation of fit-for-purpose risk metrics.
  • Stakeholder engagement with all key stakeholders across Risk, Trading, IT, Finance etc. Including providing regular communication to senior risk stakeholders.
  • Member of the European Energy Market Risk Leadership team; close collaboration across Market Risk teams, sharing best practices and ensuring strategic alignment with MR leadership.
  • Line management responsibility for one junior team member supporting the migration.

Your skills

  • Extensive experience working with the Endur ETRM, such that can be key adviser to Market Risk function.
  • Historic success of project management delivery, including ETRM migrations.
  • Technologically oriented; ability to utilise new technologies to enhance existing controls, processes, and offer detailed trading insights.
  • In depth knowledge of the UK and European Energy Markets
  • Expertise of non-linear valuations for complex transactions: This would include all physical options, such as tolling agreements, batteries and storage/transport portfolio.
  • Substantial experience within a trading and risk management organization, including a strong understanding of trading, operations, risk, compliance and mid/back-office business processes, policies, procedures, and controls.
