A prestigious firm in East London, boasting 11 partners and multiple offices across the UK, is looking for a Mixed Tax Manager. This role is ideal for a tax professional who is adept at handling a mix of 60% corporate tax returns and 40% private client work. The successful candidate will support Client Directors in delivering technically excellent tax advice and play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining strong client relationships to foster new business opportunities.
Day-to-day of the role:- Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Conduct Capital Allowances reports/analysis for audit clients.
- Deliver tax planning initiatives for corporate clients to minimise tax liabilities and optimise tax efficiency, including R&D, employee share schemes, and EIS/SEIS applications/implementation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor on tax matters and providing proactive advice.
- Research complex tax issues and provide recommendations to clients and colleagues, including report writing when required.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to deadlines.
- Professionally handle HMRC enquiries, negotiating where relevant and liaising between HMRC and the client.
- Review team members’ work, providing support and training as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal ad hoc tax queries across all locations.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
- Experience in corporate and personal tax within an accountancy practice.
- Knowledge of property tax would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of corporate and personal tax principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative tax solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Iris software (preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Graduate calibre with CTA or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential.
