Job Summary:

The Research Finance Manager serves as the key business partner on post-award issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial management of research portfolio
  • Lead the preparation of funder financial reports                                                  
  • Monitor income from funders and raise supplier invoices                                                           
  • Approve high-value transactions and provide guidance on funder terms and conditions
  • Act as the senior escalation point for issues arising on projects within the portfolio
  • Serve as signatory/approver for large transactions and funder reporting
  • Provide high quality advice to academics and administrators on matters relating to post-award administration
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance across the portfolio
  • Distribute workload equitably across the team

Specification:

  • Experience of financial management of research projects
  • Experience working in an academic environment
  • Experience working within the higher education sector
  • Knowledge of research funder terms and conditions
  • Experience managing or supervising a team of post-award professionals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
