Newly created Senior Commercial Manager (Finance) position available at leading global law firm.As the Senior Commercial Manager you will be tasked with improving commercial returns of the firm's priority sectors and clients in order to support the firms commercial strategy to maximise the opportunities within their existing practices and processes.This role would suit someone already working in a very senior Finance business Partner or Senior Commercial Finance Manager role who is looking to have a firm wide role and enjoys working at the highest level and in a more creative way as the role will be very bespoke in terms of day to day operations.Applicants will need to be confident liaising with, and building relationships and credibly with the most senior/ lead partners.Whilst the firm as practice group aligned finance business partners and an establish pricing function, this role will sit across their priority sectors.Specific duties include:

  • Multi-faceted role blending financial expertise, stakeholder management, strategic acumen
  • Lead commercial agenda; generating new ideas, making clear decisions, organising work, focusing on key priorities and achieving timely results
  • Regular interactions with senior stakeholders including Sector Heads and client relationship partners; act as the finance representative on cross-functional initiatives
  • Develop program to support and challenge stakeholders by fostering collaboration between finance and the wider business on commercial matters
  • Embody the 'communication manager' role for the team with external stakeholders
  • Design and deliver client portfolio insights on a regular basis; delivery expected via a range of channels
  • Form close relationships with other teams across group finance to understand existing working practices and system mechanics to develop enhanced insightful financial insights
  • Involved in the development of a forward-looking lens to consider financial performance and growth metrics
  • Provide financial information, analysis/digging deep into financial data and insight to stakeholders challenging their thinking, helping them make more informed decisions and driving business strategy
  • Data analysis that leads to actionable insight with achievable commercial value. Understands interplay between theoretical opportunities and the practical challenges that must be overcome ahead of successful launch
  • Understand wider finance operations / teams to ensure deliverables are in line with finance vision and parameters

Qualifications and work experience

  • Qualified Accountant an advantage with previous experience in business partnering
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management
  • Significant experience in a 'self-starting' commercial role; proven record of identifying and optimising value-add opportunities
  • Strategic mindset; creative and curious; comfortable to challenge existing processes and practices
  • Proactive and driven; able to create a plan of action for self and others
  • Ability to influence at the highest level as a credible, fast-thinking, collaborative and commercial individual
  • Excellent communicator; can explain complex issues with credibility to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfortable in a world of ambiguous decision making and consultation, with influencing skills and confidence to advise being critical success factors
