Job Role

Deputise for the Exchequer Controls Manager within the Council Tax & Benefits Service.

Take a leading role in the completion of Government Grants, Subsidy and DHP Claims and statistical/management information are prepared & submitted accurately and on time.

Responsible for maximising income using innovative models and initiatives to improve benefit administration.

Key Responsibilities

Assist manage and operate staff teams including recruitment, development and safety, planning, directing and monitoring the sections' work to ensure agreed objectives are met.

Provide accurate management information, including performance measures information on a regular basis. Collate and analyse this information, communicating in an accessible way to senior management, staff teams and partners as appropriate. Take action where appropriate to improve performance measures.

Ensure that the Council's vision, values and strategic aims are achieved in the delivery of the work of the team and to provide a clear sense of purpose and direction in order to motivate and develop employees to achieve high performance.

Compile and complete the initial, interim and final grant claims for Benefit Subsidy & Discretionary Housing Payments, providing supporting information and documentation to validate its financial value.

Take the leading role in the external audit of the Housing Benefit grant claim to avoid qualification and maximise subsidy.
