London Fire Brigade, one of our largest public sector clients based in London are looking to recruit a Senior Finance Business Partner to join their team on a 3-month contract (with possibilities of further extensions). The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week with hybrid work arrangements available with the expectation of 1 day a week from office. The office is based few minutes’ walk from London Bridge or Southwark station.  Pay rate: £415 per day PAYE or £600 per day Umbrella.Job Purpose:To provide a high quality, professional and cost-effective financial advice service to the Authority, Management Boards, and Officers.Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of financial business partner support to nominated departments, in order to deliver accurate financial monitoring, budget planning and financial analysis of projects.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial management systems to record and report on funds received from external sources including liaising with departmental heads as necessary. Assist with the maintenance of financial records kept by individual externally funded projects.
  • Responsible for the compilation and maintenance of the revenue budget systems. This includes keeping the current databases up to date with changes from growth, savings, medium term items and virements.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Authority’s Medium-Term Forecast and annual budget process. Including calculating the impact of staff pay awards and Authority charging rates.
  • Responsible for the development of financial budget and monitoring processes to make them more robust and less resource intensive.
  • Manage the process of monthly reporting of income and expenditure, to liaise and challenge spending departments as necessary and to provide a draft Financial Position report on a monthly basis to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for the completion of statutory and GLA annual and quarterly returns, in compliance with the relevant reporting standards. This includes central government Outturn and Forecast returns and submissions to the Greater London Authority on the presentation and content of budget/monitoring data.
  • Support the systems team in developing improvements to the finance systems and to maintain the financial information held on those systems.
  • Provide financial information, advice and support on the management and monitoring of budgets and associated activities.
  • Support the preparation of financial year closing and end of year accounts.
