Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. We want to make it a better borough, making radical social change a reality, creating a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind.

The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.

The Senior Business Partner will provide comprehensive financial support and advice to Camden Living, Camden Learning and other relevant companies including financial planning, monitoring and reporting alongside the production of the companies annual accounts. The role will be integral to supporting the Finance Business Partner model and aiding decision making. Some of the key responsibilities will include;

  • Developing and maintaining strong, trusted relationships both across the companies, Council and with external partners
  • Ensuring effective financial management and control
  • Supporting the strategic vision of the companies through assessing the viability of future projects
  • Leading on the production of the annual accounts for the companies and liaising with the auditors

To be suitable for the role you must be a qualified accountant with experience of supporting limited companies across a range of activities including analysing business cases, preparation of accounts and preparing and presenting financial management reports. The ability to build relationships with various stakeholders, up to board level, and translate complex information in an easy to understand and concise manner is essential.

Camden offers hybrid working arrangements and excellent benefits including flexible working, an outstanding pension scheme and access to our incredible staff networks.

We want Camden Council to be a great place to work and to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and those of Other Ethnicities, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equalities and justice remains at the heart of everything we do.
