Tax Manager (Senior) - Real Estate. OUR CLIENT is a specialist investor and asset manager operating across the UK and Europe, boasting an impressive portfolio of properties worth €multi-billion. As they continue their growth and expansion plans, they now have a need to recruit an experienced Tax Manager to lead on tax matters for both UK and European real estate investments over the asset holding lifecycle.

THE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES for the Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager will include:

  • Leading on tax related aspects of share or asset acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Developing and managing tax related controls and procedures and conform approach across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Working with fund reporting team and senior finance management.
  • Working across disciplines and providing input as needed to asset management, investment management, legal and compliance functions.
  • Carrying out tax related tax training sessions to the fund accountants and wider team.
  • Assisting on tax matters in relation to corporate deals (both buy and sell side), comprising tax due diligence process, tax-specific matters for transaction documents including tax warranties, indemnities, disclosures, etc.
  • Working with tax advisors to determine tax positions on asset and portfolio disposals.
  • Overseeing ongoing tax compliance obligations for investment vehicles.
  • Managing external advisors.

THE PERSON and SKILLS REQUIREMENTS for the Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager :

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Advisor (or equivalent) with at least three years post-qualification experience gained in a real estate Fund Management / Asset Management business in the UK and Europe.
  • Commercially astute and articulate with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing key stakeholders.
  • Understanding complex tax matters and communicating issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Possessing strong, current technical knowledge of UK and European tax rules and compliance matters.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of managing external tax advisers in a cost-effective manner.
  • Proactively monitoring changes in tax legislation that could impact current and future investments.
  • An experienced transaction professional.
