Job Purpose
  • Managing a diverse client portfolio, mainly consisting of trusts and estate
  • Preparation and delivery of quality and reliable tax advice
  • Overviewing of one-off advisory and compliance assignments
  • Providing support to Directors and Partners by winning new work and monitoring the wider tax team
  • Overseeing capital gains tax and inheritance tax issues
  • Supporting business development strategies, attending prospective meetings and quoting for services
  • Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Overseeing junior team members, including workflow management, quality control, and providing training
  • Building trusted client relationships, proactively handling queries and problem solving
  • Keeping up-to-date with tax knowledge, championing knowledge sharing across the team
  • Attending courses to further build on own taxation skillset
  • Making suggestions to implement changes that improve the efficiency of the wider department

The Successful Applicant
  • ACA / CTA qualified, part qualified or studying
  • Qualified by experience within UK practice would also be considered
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within practice
  • A proven track record of report writing and assisting with ad-hoc advisory work
  • Technically efficient across taxation
  • Good understanding of general private client tax issues and relevant legislation
  • Supervisory experience with good people management skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable and eager to progress
  • A drive to deliver technical knowledge as a point of call for the team
  • Confident in reviewing processes and improving systems to boost efficiency
  • Good communication skills are essential, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong commercial acumen
