We are recruiting for a Tax Manager to join a well-established, forward-thinking firm of accountants based in NW London. This is an excellent firm that provides high quality audit, accounting and tax services to owner-managed businesses, business start-ups, small-to-medium sized companies, UK subsidiaries of foreign parent companies and with personal tax services and tax planning advice to individuals.

The successful candidate will play an important role in assisting the Tax Partner in the overall smooth running of the department to include the supervision and training of junior team members and ensuring that the department meets the requirements of the ICAEW Practice Assurance Standards.

As Tax Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning compliance work and controlling work schedules of tax staff
  • Reviewing and in some cases, dealing with tax compliance work, ready for submission to HMRC
  • Dealing with complex tax and tax planning issues for the firm’s clients
  • Working with partners to ensure adequate and appropriate fee recoveries on assignments
  • Where relevant, dealing with Capital Gains, Trust, and Inheritance Tax and assisting the Partners in ensuring that the best advice is tailored for the client
  • Assisting the Partners in the marketing and further development of the tax function with the firm
  • Supervising and training of team members within the department
  • Developing client and intermediary relationships, managing and controlling deliverables and deadlines, and handling day-to-day queries
  • Assisting the Partners in the recruitment and appraisal process
  • Working with the Training Partner to ensure that all technical and soft skills, if applicable, training for the tax department is maintained up to date, including CPD where appropriate

  • Ideally be CTA qualified - other qualifications and exceptional qualified by experience candidates will be considered
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a dedicated tax role within UK accountancy practice
  • Good all round knowledge of UK taxation
  • Have good general IT skills; MS Office and tax software, ideally a working knowledge of CorTAX, CCH Personal Tax and Central
  • Excellent communication skills
