Job Title: Tax Risk & Governance Manager - 6 Month FTC

Base Location: This role is based at the clients head office on Fenchurch Street, London.

Work Pattern: The team work on a Hybrid work pattern, ideally looking at 2 days a week in the office.

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a dynamic Tax team at a global Insurance firm. Reporting directly to the Tax Risk & Governance Senior Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tax Risk and Control Framework across all tax areas. This will include working closely across the Tax team, as well as with third party providers and colleagues collaboratively. The role requires a tax professional with a strong interest in governance and risk with a proven track record of balancing different and varied projects.

What will you be ?

On a day-to-day basis this role will include:

  • Supporting the Head of Tax and Tax Risk & Governance Senior Manager on all matters relating to Tax Governance.
  • Managing, maintaining and developing internal tax risk and controls framework and related document architecture. This includes responding to new and perceived tax risks and addressing control weaknesses; as well as assisting internal Tax to embed new or changed activity where required.
  • Ensuring frameworks fulfil European Tax authorities expectations in the area of risk and controls, and that appropriate documentation is prepared - eg UK HMRC Business Risk Review.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of, and adherence to, the internal Tax Strategy.
  • Maintaining SAO controls, procedures, control testing and attestation, as business change requires review and change.

What will you need to do it?

  • You would need to be a qualified ACA, CTA, CA or ACCA with experience of Tax Risk & Governance from any industry or accountancy firm.
  • Good understanding of UK tax compliance and risk management regimes and working knowledge of similar European and US regimes.
  • Experience of developing, assessing, reviewing and testing of tax risks and controls.
