Corporate Finance Valuations Specialist

Role Overview:

Due to continued growth, particularly in the area of valuations, my client are excited to offer an opportunity to join their Strategic Corporate Finance team. This role will see you working closely with an established team, with valuations making up at least 50% of your workload. You will also gain exposure to a broad range of corporate finance services, supporting deals typically valued between £1m - £30m. Your role will likely involve working on large, multi-faceted engagements where valuations serve as a starting point, or managing standalone valuation projects alongside other corporate finance client work. About the Strategic Corporate Finance Team:

The Strategic Corporate Finance team helps ambitious organizations with insightful, strategic advice at all stages of their business lifecycle. With extensive cross-sector expertise, the team provides a range of services, including financial modelling, due diligence, M&A growth, business owner exit strategies, and company valuations. .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Valuation Support: Prepare valuation working papers and final output reports, letters, or presentations.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in preparing reports for litigious matters, presenting findings for Expert evidence.
  • Due Diligence and Modelling: Support the team on small to mid-market deals, including preparing financial due diligence reports, information memoranda, and financial models.
  • Advisory Services: Work alongside the team to deliver buy-side and sell-side advisory services, including M&A, MBO, and EOT.
  • Document Review: Analyze financial statements, management information, and deal documents. Review sale and purchase agreements and completion accounts.
  • Client Assistance: Assist clients with completion procedures, including cash and net debt analysis.
  • Market Research: Support valuation processes with market research, identifying potential buyers or target companies.
  • Client Interaction: Attend client meetings, potentially leading sessions without a partner, building strong client relationships.
  • Promote Corporate Finance Services: Foster internal and external relationships to promote the team and its services.
  • Best Practices: Contribute to developing best practice in valuations by attending relevant external training courses and sharing insights within the team.

Person Specification:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • ACA finalist/qualified or CFA qualification.
  • Experience in corporate finance, particularly in company valuations using multiple methodologies.
  • Client-facing experience with SME/owner-managed businesses, understanding the factors affecting their operations.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with corporate intelligence databases (e.g., PitchBook, MarkToMarket, Experian MarketIQ).
  • A 2:1 degree.

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, accurate work.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to non-specialist audiences.
  • Analytical skills to identify inconsistencies or errors in data.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Information:

  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:00am - 5:30pm).
  • Travel: Occasional travel to client premises.
  • Systems: Microsoft, Caseware, Digita, Practice Engine, Sage, Xero.
