Overview

Our client is a financial advisory firm offering bespoke financial planning for senior medical professionals. They are currently looking for a Assistant Financial Planner (Paraplanner).

The Assistant Financial Planner (AFP) works closely with the Financial Planner and is core to the advisory process for clients. The AFP provides essential administrative and technical support as required to ensure client advice is accurate and appropriate for their needs. In many regards, the AFP is the central function of the business, and works with all areas to ensure the smooth and effective handling of client matters.

Responsibilities

General

  • Keep up to date with new product, technical or legislative changes within the marketplace.
  • Comply at all times with the Compliance and Training and Competence Procedures of the firm.
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the Financial Services Act 2012 and the regulatory Principles, Rules and the Code of Practice for Approved Persons.
  • Keep up to date with financial products and legislation through continuous professional development (CPD), in line with the required rules.
  • Where required by law and/or company policy, to maintain a record of a minimum of 35 hours of such CPD activity, of which at least 21 hours must be of a structured nature.
  • This role has been identified as being a role which includes competencies falling under the ESMA Guidelines for the assessment of knowledge and competence, effective from 3rd January 2018.

Support to Financial Planners

  • Carry out technical analysis and calculations, providing recommendations on financial services products.
  • Carry out technical analysis and calculations, providing recommendations on NHS pension strategy.
  • Assist with drafting a full suite of client reports.
  • Attend client meetings with a Financial Planner.

Client liaison

  • Communicate with clients by phone, email and letter as necessary.
  • Review all necessary paperwork for client meetings.
  • Attend client meetings, providing technical support where needed.
  • Ensure reports are "client-friendly", written in an accessible and plain English manner.

Third parties

  • Supervise Client Services in the accurate gathering of all information required for us to complete technical calculations and plan analysis in order to give advice.
  • Instruct investment custodians in a timely and accurate manner retaining oversight until completion.

Internal

  • Ensure client records are up to date and filed correctly in accordance with current Company structure.
  • Follow the quality assurance process to maintain a high standard of work and develop a good relationship with the Risk and Governance team.
  • Liaise with Client Services regularly, ensuring that they follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain and provide management information as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Financial Services.
  • Good academic qualifications in an analytical discipline.
  • Good written English.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well organised and accurate.
  • High standards of ethics and integrity.
