The Role: I am recruiting a Financial Planning Assistant on behalf of Monenti Partners, a leading independent Financial Planning firm based in central London (WC1).

The Opportunity: Working in a collaborative, fast paced and client focused team, the role of Financial Planning Assistant provides exceptional career opportunities. From the outset you will work alongside and learn from highly qualified Financial Planners, supporting them with delivering an exceptional financial planning service to high-net-worth clients. You will receive the support required to become Diploma qualified and, when your technical skills allow, you will progress into a Paraplanning role and, as your skills develop, you will have the further opportunity to become a Chartered Financial Planner/ Financial Advisor.

The Person: The successful Financial Planning Assistant will be ambitious, highly intelligent and able to demonstrate a commitment to a career within the financial planning industry. They will be keen to learn, proactive, organised and detail orientated, with exceptional relationship building, customer service and administrative skills. They will be articulate, analytical and aspirational, keen to make a significant contribution to the growth of a progressive and ambitious firm while being invested in, valued and rewarded accordingly.

Financial Planning Assistant, responsibilities include:

  • Providing the assistance involved in providing financial planning and portfolio services to high-net-worth clients.
  • Assisting the Advisers with pre and post Financial Planning Meeting preparation.
  • Processing new business applications
  • Preparing Letters of Authority (LOAs), collating, submitting and chasing policy information and managing the pipeline.
  • Checking and updating valuations and other policy details.
  • Updating records on the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (contribution amendments, expression of wish changes, personal details etc.)
  • Collating investment data and saving to the back-office system on behalf of Advisers.
  • Annual Capital Gains Tax project, sharing reports with clients as appropriate.
  • Client communication via phone and email, developing client relationships, arranging meetings and collating supporting documents.
  • General administration - handling post and emails, binding, printing and preparing documents for meetings, preparing meeting rooms etc.

Financial Planning Assistant, skills and experience required:

  • 12 months + experience of working in a relevant professional services environment (ideally gained in financial advice or working on the provider side, but training will provided for the right candidate)
  • A graduate (ideally 2:1 or above), able to demonstrate a commitment to a career with the Financial Planning sector.
  • Ambitious, keen to learn and to study for professional qualifications.
  • Professional appearance, confident manner and exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical, excellent administrative and organisational skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong technology and mathematical aptitude, proficient with MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • A team player with a "can do" attitude, adaptable to change and prepared to participate fully in the successful operation of the business.
