GSL Education are looking for a Food Technician to join our client schools in Newham who's ready to inspire young minds and help them master essential cooking skills.

As a Food Technician, you will be a key player in the food technology department. You'll prepare materials, maintain equipment, and support students during their practical lessons. Your role as a Food Technician is crucial in keeping the kitchen running smoothly and creating an exciting learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Organise and prepare materials and ingredients for lessons, ensuring everything is fresh and ready.
  • Assist teachers during cooking classes by supporting demonstrations and guiding students.
  • Keep kitchen equipment and workspaces clean and orderly, maintaining hygiene and organisation.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed by monitoring safe practices in the kitchen.
  • Encourage and help students develop their cooking skills, providing feedback and support.
  • Plan and organise food-related projects and events, including coordinating logistics and student participation.
  • Monitor stock and order supplies, keeping track of ingredients, utensils, and cleaning products.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Food Technician is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Great organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Passionate about working with young people and supporting their education.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
