Inside IR35

Based on site at Acton Works, West London

35 hours per week. Day shift

This role does involve use of forklift trucks and other elecetric vehicles. Whilst a licence is not necessarily essential some knowledge or experiene in use of this type of equipment is essential. 

Our client in the rail sector (Rolling Stock) is looking for an Auxiliary Assistant to provide support and assistance to production staff within the workshop by carrying out a range of tasks including stripping, cleaning and minor assembly work, operate overhead cranes, forklift trucks and other electric vehicles. Ensuring assets are transported around the depot safely.

Key Accountabilities:

To identify raw materials and manufactured components from Bills of materials, stores requisitions and manufacturing specifications.
To operate mechanised materials handling plant and equipment including overhead cranes, forklift trucks and road vehicles.
Safe use of hand and power tools as required
To assist Fitting staff in the production of work
Cleaning and preparation of components, bogies, carriages

Also Ensuring
Full compliance with corporate and statutory guidelines around driving at work.
The safety of themselves and others impacted by their work activities
Reporting defects or unsafe practices

Skills and Knowledge:

Experience of using basic hand and power tools e.g.. sanders/drills/power screw drivers etc.
Experience in forklift driving

Possess an understanding of equipment and be able to dismantle to appropriate sub-system/component level
Basic First Aid and Manual Handling Awareness
Basic Health and Safety at Work
Good working knowledge and understanding of forklift operation

Able to read and write in a clear legible fashion
Good communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly and understand team mates
Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with customer, the public and statutory bodies in a professional manner
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to understand and comply with working instructions
Ability to carry out general housekeeping without direction
