This is an exciting entry-level job for someone interested in a career in the commercial art world.

We are looking for a graduate with a passion for the arts and a desire to work in a busy, exciting gallery learning about how a contemporary, commercial gallery works from the inside.

This is a support role – working primarily with the cataloguing manager and the after-sales manager. Your time will be divided between assisting these two vital roles within the company – and most likely other areas within the team as well.

Primarily your responsibilities will include:

  • Cataloguing: Collecting information from artists, researching works, measuring and photographing artworks then recording this information efficiently and thoroughly.
  • Website and database: Updating information about artworks and exhibitions online and on our database.
  • Stock management: Carrying out stock checks of artworks and arranging their storage on site.
  • Client relations: Writing to and calling clients, keeping them up to date with the progress of their purchases and sending out supporting documentation after a sale.
  • Packaging and managing deliveries: Wrapping artworks ready for delivery; booking in deliveries with couriers and with clients.

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone keen to learn, with positive energy. This is a fabulous opportunity for someone who is excited about working within the commercial art world and enjoys learning on the job.

The candidate must be good at multi-tasking and understanding instructions. You must be confident talking to clients and artists on the phone and in person. You should be happy working as a part of a lively and busy team, and a ‘can-do’ attitude is essential.

We are looking for someone with a good eye for detail, who works carefully and precisely and is ready to embrace projects with thoroughness and professionalism.

We need to see a demonstrated level of confidence and competency in writing, communications, basic digital design, computer literacy and of course, a knowledge of fine art.
