The client:

Harmonic is proud to be working on an exclusive basis with one of the leading health drinks scale-ups to hire a talented Accounts Receivable Assistant to join the team.

Our client is passionate about providing delicious-tasting drinks that you can feel good about drinking. Their award-winning journey began over 10 years ago, leading to multiple awards for their various product ranges. The company prides itself on using only the freshest, natural ingredients, avoiding artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and concentrates and has been a huge success. They have attracted distribution in major supermarkets (think Tesco, Ocado and Sainsburys for example) as well as to huge number of pubs, restaurants, and retail shops.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Receivables Assistant to take ownership of the Accounts Receivable function. Managing a £6m ledger including major UK supermarket client, you will be instrumental in reducing debtor days and ensuring cash flow remains health. This role is pivotal as they move away from reliance on an outsourced AR function and implement more effective controls. The role would initially work closely with the outsourced AR function.

While the primary focus will be on credit control, there is an opportunity to engage in project work related to automation and AI systems, adding variety and strategic input into the role.

Responsibility:

  • Support the outsourced finance function and Finance Director to oversee and manage the c.£6m ledger, managing accounts for large grocery retailers and other FMCG clients.
  • Develop and implement effective credit control processes, driving debtor days down.
  • Work with the outsourced service to help streamline processes and ensure effective communication, with the longer-term focus of transition the AR function from the outsourced into an in-house function.
  • Monitor aged receivable, contact clients and send reminders to ensure timely payments
  • Handle deduction and discrepancies with precision and diligence, ensuring accounts are accurate and reconciled.
  • Work to manage disputed invoices and payment negotiations with internal and external suppliers.
  • Contribute to system improvements and automation projects to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align AR practices with business goals.

What we need to see (essential):

  • 2-3 years experience in credit control
  • Experience within FMCG across Food & Beverage ideally with a brand that sells to the major UK supermarket chains such as Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys/Morrisons etc
  • Strong understanding of AR and deduction handling with a grocery/retail context.
  • Proven experience managing ledgers for major retail accounts.
  • Highly meticulous, detail oriented and capable of navigating complex AR challenges.

What we would like to see (Bonus):

  • Background in large FMCG/food companies with exposure to grocery accounts
  • Knowledge of Xero accounting software

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Location: Zone 1 - 3 days based in office / 2 days WFH
