An award-winning firm of chartered accountants and tax advisors, with a strong, market leading international alliance, is seeking a confident and proactive Bid Manager who is passionate about helping people win work to lead the bids capability across the firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, self-starter to join a busy, professional and highly regarded team in a role that offers exposure to a wide range of clients spanning several sectors. The firm has experienced sustained and organic growth over the last six years and are now poised to embark on an ambitious programme of investment, development and growth. This significant investment programme, during the cycle of the current strategy, will allow the firm to develop into a market leading independent firm, acting for ambitious, large or scaling, sophisticated clients. Working closely with the Marketing and BD Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the firm’s strategy to transform and elevate the support provided to the business. This will include working closely with Sector and Service Heads to assess where to focus central resource whilst also developing skills and materials to enable self-service where required. You will line manage two Bid Executives; one based in London and one based in the firm’s office in Cape Town, South Africa. The Bids Executives are responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a significant volume of bid submissions which clearly demonstrate the features and benefits of working with the firm. Keeping up to date with bid best practice, the Bid Manager will be required to implement best practice processes both within the team and across the firm, creating and developing new content, evaluating recent bids and making recommendations on how to improve submissions. The role holder will also lead the development of a bid library and manage several bids alongside their additional responsibilities.

Professional, articulate and able to communicate and build relationships with all levels, externally and internally, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience working in a bids role within a professional services or partnership environment, to include demonstrable success in leading others through line management and in drafting and reviewing written communications to deliver specific messages within tight deadlines. A strategic thinker, able to see the bigger picture of evolving a capability, the Bid Manager will need to be resilient, persistent, persuasive and assertive and will thrive working under pressure. Exceptional project management skills and ability to work with a number of teams concurrently, together with strong coaching skills to support the development of messaging both in written submissions and in pitch scenarios will be essential.
