The BID Manager role is a pivotal position within the Legal department, driving the process of tendering, proposal creation and contract negotiation in the professional services industry.

Description

  • Sourcing/identifying/circulating potential opportunities for relevant practice areas.
  • Lead tenders from initial opportunity through to drafting, submission, post submission feedback, and reporting ensuring all timescales and deliverables are managed;
  • Collate non-technical responses using existing collateral to draft responses where possible;
  • Manage input from practice area experts across the firm, including partners, Knowledge Development Lawyers, and business support teams;
  • Coordinate contract review and other compliance checks;
  • Understand all elements of a quality submission and ensure responses correctly and fully address these;
  • Identify individual evaluation criteria for each tender and explain this to key stakeholders, particularly concerning pricing;
  • Design compelling presentations and prepare key staff for interviews and clarification meetings;
  • Produce tender analysis and report on themes from client feedback;
  • Effectively hand over clients once agreements have been signed to the wider Client and Business Development team;
  • Maintain an up-to-date library of precedent text, ensuring final submissions are filed away correctly, post submission.

Profile

* Previous experience in public sector tendering and working knowledge of portals;

* 4 + years' experience managing the tender/bids process, ideally within a professional/legal services setting;

* Experience working with, and managing, internal stakeholders;

* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;

* Strong attention to detail;

* Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and work under pressure;

* Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders on approach, strategy and responses;

* Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities;

* Previous experience of handling sensitive situations and data with confidentiality and good judgment.
