ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). The role is working for an established global insurer in our clients London underwriting team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in underwriting, operations and commercial insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute the underwriting strategy to achieve company goals and objectives
Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support in complex risk assessment and pricing decisions
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of underwriting processes with overall business operations
Oversee the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
Monitor underwriting performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and innovation in underwriting practices

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred
10+ years of experience in underwriting and commercial insurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies
Strong knowledge of underwriting operations, risk assessment, and pricing models
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements

DAY-TO-DAY

Collaborate with senior leadership to set underwriting strategy and goals
Provide leadership and guidance to underwriting team members
Review and approve complex underwriting decisions
Analyse underwriting performance metrics and develop action plans for improvement
Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in underwriting
