Our client, Lewisham Council, is looking for Child Death Overview Panel Chair to join their team.
Part-time, approximately 2 days per month
Lewisham Council is seeking an independent Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Chair to lead and coordinate the review of child deaths across the tri-borough area. This critical role ensures that statutory requirements are met while identifying learning opportunities to prevent future child deaths. The Chair will work closely with multi-agency partners, including health services, social care, and law enforcement, to ensure a comprehensive and effective review process.
- Chair CDOP meetings effectively, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
- Coordinate panel agendas, meeting schedules, and action plans with the CDOP Chair team, Child Death Review Process (CDRP) Manager, and Designated Doctor.
- Oversee the production of an annual report summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Ensure all new panel members and invited attendees sign a Confidentiality Agreement
- Work with public health professionals to provide data analysis on epidemiological trends and health surveillance.
- Evaluate trends in child deaths, recommend public health initiatives, and support implementation.
- Ensure CDOP members receive relevant case information at least five working days before meetings
- Analyze child death reports to identify contributory factors and learning opportunities
- Notify Safeguarding Partners of any suspected abuse or neglect cases not previously reported.
- Make and monitor recommendations for actions to prevent future child deaths.
- Participate in local, regional, and national initiatives related to child death review processes.
- Ensure meeting minutes are compiled, reviewed, and distributed
- Complete statutory documentation, including Form Cs.
- Report operational concerns to the SE London CCG Quality and Safety sub-committee and the local safeguarding executive
- Ensure effective scheduling and coverage of CDOP meetings, including planned and unplanned absences among Chairs.
