They are on the hunt for an experienced Clerk of Works to report directly into the Project Director for a scheme in North London. This will be a 12 month FTC, but could lead into a permanent position.

Responsibilities

As the Clerk of Works, your key duties will include:

  • Monitoring and inspecting progress of all works to ensure compliance with Contract Documents, relevant regulations, design guidance, Codes of Practice, and British Standards, while maintaining high levels of workmanship and adherence to good practices.
  • Producing daily written Site Diaries to record progress, highlight any issues, and document relevant occurrences such as:
    • Construction progress against the contractor's schedule
    • Site construction issues
    • Weather conditions
    • Quality issues and non-conformance
    • Health and safety concerns
    • Workforce numbers across trades
  • Taking regular date-stamped photographs of work in progress, organizing them by area, and making them available upon request.
  • Regularly reporting to and supporting the Project Manager, contributing to monthly progress reports.
  • Managing inspections and tests as required by the specification, recording results, and addressing non-conformance.
  • Participating in the commissioning of systems, reporting on any non-compliance issues, and performing inspections before areas are closed up by the contractor.
  • Identifying defects, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and ensuring timely resolution by the contractor.
  • Performing spot checks to verify accuracy of setting out and levels for compliance with contract documentation, and informing the project team of any non-conformance.
  • Acting as a Health and Safety advocate, ensuring company interests are protected at all times.
  • Monitoring and reviewing contractor Health and Safety performance on-site.
  • Liaising with project representatives and stakeholders as required.
  • Attending and supporting progress, health and safety, non-conformance, and defect meetings, while working closely with customer care and estate management teams as necessary.
Personal Specifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience in a Site Manager or Clerk of Works role.
  • A technical degree or professional/trade qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in high-volume residential developments.
  • Competence in reviewing technical drawings and specifications.
