The Company:
Our reputable client provides Structural Steel and Architectural Metalwork, on behalf of the most reputable Contractors in the UK. Projects are generally in Central London and across the South of England. Their major construction clients rely on them to deliver the flexibility, first-class fabrication and safe site installation that bring a prestigious building together.
From an architect's concept, they plan, design and fabricate inside the M25, then deliver to installation teams at the client's site. The company is privately owned, with the directors being integrally involved in the daily success of the business. They’ve built a team of people who are making the most of their potential and are helping to deliver the companies vision.
Being established for almost 40 years, they are the preferred Structural Steel and Metalwork supplier to some of the biggest and best Contractors in the UK. They work across a range of projects including Demolition, Refurbishment, Data Centres & Architectural work. Most of their work is through repeat business, although they are tendering with new clients all the time too.
The Opportunities:
Due to continued growth, they are looking for a skilled ‘Technical Draughtman’ who wants to be a key part of the Design team. The current design team consists of 3 Draughtman, a Design Manager and a Technical Director. You will also be given plenty of opportunities for promotions, with there being several examples within the business of employees being promoted due to strong performance. Becoming a Design Manager and beyond is a genuine possibility here.
Your main responsibilities as a Steelwork Draughtman:
- To read Engineer and Architect/layout drawings and produce 3D models in Tekla CAD software
- (structural and secondary/architectural metalwork).
- Produce fabrication & GA drawings, material lists etc. from the 3D model.
- Produce CAM data from model.
- Produce all material, component, bolt lists etc.
- Work on your own projects independently as well as part of a team as required.
To be successful as a Steelwork Technical Draughtsman, you will need to possess the following:
- Previous experience working as a steelwork Draughtsman is essential – minimum 3 years within
- a steelwork fabrication business or similar engineering environment.
- Experience using Tekla CAD software is much preferred, how Tekla training may be given to exceptional detailers who currently use other 3D detailing systems.
- Experience working on structural and/or architectural metalwork required.
