Our client, a prestigious Barristers' Chambers, based near Chancery Lane, has an exciting newly created Fees Clerk job vacancy. Working under the day-to-day supervision of the Head of Finance, the Fees Clerk is expected to provide financial, administrative and organisational support to the Finance Team, and assist in the provision of an efficient, professional service to chambers members.
Key responsibilities for the Fees Clerk include:
- Responsible for the collection of debt for a team of barristers including liaising with theinstructing Solicitors by email and on the telephone
- Periodic reporting of aged debt to members
- Assisting where necessary with legally aided aged debt
- Sending fee notes and invoices for all new work billed
- Prompt follow up of billing queries and requests
- Processing payments received into the centralised fees bank account
- Ensuring barristersā cheques are banked daily
- Processing and correctly allocating payments received on to LEX system and sendingconfirmation of receipt to the barristers
- Assisting with daily bank reconciliation when required
- Assisting with posting ad-hoc payments to staff members and suppliers on online bankingsystem
- Assisting with end of month tasks as required
Person Specification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including good spoken and written English
- Calm, patient and flexible approach to work in a very busy environment
- Potential to develop, take on more senior responsibilities and handle financial processes in their entirety without supervision
- Good organisational skills to ensure all financial information is accurate and up to date
