Financial Reporting Analyst - ESG reporting according to CSRD & EU

Contract Until 30/06/2025

Based in London - 3 Days a week onsite, 2 Days Remote

Day rate up to £550 PD Inside IR35, VIA Umbrella

Our client will have to disclose the first ESG reporting according to CSRD & EU Taxonomy for the Financial Year 2024/2025. The regulatory requirements are extensive and significant lead time and resources are required to ensure publication of the report in a timely and qualitative manner.

The role should support the EU AG ESG reporting (stand alone and consolidated) in BAU state.

  • Preparation of EU Taxonomy reports external disclosure.

  • Analysis of change drivers of the Green Asset Ratio

  • Reconciliation with accounting data and regulatory reporting

To prepare for the reporting, the role will support implementing the CSRD/EU taxonomy reporting capabilities. This includes determination of work flows & responsibilities, drafting of BRDs, Testing of IT development, Implementing CSRD MI among others.

Background

The EU F&C department is responsible for all finance functions of the bank. It is divided in four teams:

  1. Accounting & Reporting

  2. Financial Control & Product Control

  3. Tax

  4. Regulatory Reporting.

The F&C department assumes responsibility for the finance activities of EU AG and Düsseldorf branch (as insourcing) and oversees the finance function of all EU branches in Paris, Madrid, Dublin, Prague, Milan and Amsterdam.

The finance functions cover the following core responsibilities:

  1. Accounting & Reporting - ongoing bookkeeping & accounting, preparation of annual financial statements and coordination of external audit, compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), maintenance of internal control system for financial accounting, financial (non-regulatory) reporting to internal & external parties, management of IT projects, calculation of SLA charges

  2. Financial Control & Product Control - ongoing monitoring of financial performance incl. lead of annual financial forecast/MYP process, development of a product control function in line with MaRisk including daily monitoring of trading result, market conformity checks of valuation & pricing,

  3. Tax Compliance - monitoring of changes to tax legislation, maintenance of tax compliance system, review of all tax declarations, maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, support for other teams on all tax related matters

  4. Regulatory Reporting - Compliance with all European & German regulatory & ESG reporting requirements, Coordination of ongoing prudential reporting

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Support coordination of any technical change affecting the reporting requirements of EU and EU Group (both internal and external reporting)

  • Definition and maintenance of implemented data definitions and delivery of data

  • Preparation of test cases and execution of related testing

  • Preparation of reporting workflow and workflow documentation

  • Support in preparation of first reporting

  • Develop controls to identify data quality issues (missing data, wrong data, inconsistent data etc)

  • Support on all ESG relevant finance matters, i.e. SPPI test with respect to ESG, ESG derivatives

  • Provide instructions to correct the data in the source systems; if necessary: correct the data in the ESG reporting data to ensure reporting is correct.

  • Support in implementation of CSRD/ESRS disclosure requirements assigned to Finance & Control department (covers data aspects, systems and processes)

  • Support coordination within the CSRD/ESRS implementation project (across front and back office departments and across several EMEA entities)

  • Ensuring timely, complete and efficient implementation of changes to ESG reporting

  • Support for the review of regulatory changes and changes driven by Tokyo

  • Support to internal and external auditors

  • Support improving reporting processes

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous related experience in a regulatory advisory or reporting role within a financial institutions or consultancy firm (experience in ESG reporting is a plus)

  • Be able to understand complex concepts of new regulatory requirements, challenge them and support communication to IT

  • Analytical skills of regulatory driven changes and development of solutions and Data Analytics

Challenges

Mandatory ESG reporting is an evolving area with no established markets standards/industry best

practices. In particular regarding application of regulatory requirements to the financial sector. Working in

this area requires to some extent expert judgement that needs to be well justified and documented.
