  • Servicing portable firefighting equipment in accordance with the relevant British Standards (including BS 5306 part 8), legislation (including the Fire Safety Order)
  • This aspect of the role involves the use of basic numeracy skills including:
    • the application of simple formulas;
    • the calculation of floor areas;
    • the calculation of travel distances;
    • using tables to lookup values; and
    • basic arithmetic (completing prices, quantities, totals, etc.).
  • Safely handling the portable firefighting equipment (pressure vessels weighing up to 20kg each) in accordance with good practice and guidelines.            
  • Manage van stock correctly ensuring relevant paperwork is submitted to replenish stock, ensuring first time fix where possible.
  • Ensure mobile PDA device is used correctly at all times and faults reported quickly to your line manager.
  • Ensure compliance documentation is completed and shared with line manager in real time, highlighting any areas of non-conformity.
  • Servicing and Maintenance of portable fire extinguishers, provided by FIA (fire industry association)
  • C11 portable fire extinguisher recharging and maintenance, provided by FPA ( fire protection association)
  • Fire extinguisher technician diploma, provided by BAFE (British approvals for fire excellence)
  • Fire extinguisher technician training, provided by F.I.R.E ltd
  • L3 in servicing and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers, provided by British Fire Consortium

*If they have been BAFE certified in a previous role that would be desirable but not essential
