Forensic Collision Investigator - About the role

My client are looking for a Forensic Collision Investigator to be based in the South of England), working as part of a small team inspecting vehicles, investigating and verifying road traffic collisions, and producing technical reports as an expert witness.

The role could suit a graduate looking to forge a career in collision investigation, an established engineer looking for a change of direction, or an experienced police vehicle examiner/ accident investigator seeking a new opportunity in the civil sector.

Forensic Collision Investigator - Key duties

What will your day look like:

Travel to and from site to conduct vehicle examinations and photography (training provided, driving licence required)

Downloading and analysing vehicle data (training provided)

Consider findings alongside other information sources to investigate collisions and determine the compatibility of vehicle damage against scene and witness evidence

Prepare impartial, technically accurate reports for use in pre- and post-litigation.

Be an expert witness for the court and attend meetings with lawyers and equivalent subject experts (training provided).

The role is home-based but customer-facing with occasional meetings and discussions with clients, barristers, and other subject matter experts.

Forensic Collision Investigator - Key requirements

The role will be open to individuals who either demonstrate the qualifications and ability to carry out the role with the appropriate training, or to those who already have the necessary experience to satisfy the requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering or scientific subject or demonstration of equivalent practical experience: for example: experienced engineer, police vehicle examiner/ accident investigator.

Proficient in MS Word

Specific Collision Investigation Qualifications (UCPD, Cert HE etc) would be useful

Any of the following experience and qualifications would be beneficial:

Incorporated or Chartered Engineer Status, MITAI

Specific Collision Investigation Qualifications (UCPD, Cert HE etc)

Beneficial Experience

Collision investigation

Vehicle examinations

Vehicle downloads (e.g. Bosch CDR)
