Location:This role is based in London, and is required to regular travel to our Nuneaton Hub and occasionally to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the offices.Reports to: Director of Corporate AffairsDirect Reports: 4 direct reports, including the Head of Responsible Sourcing, ESG Project Lead, ESG Manager, and Charity Partnership & Comms Manager

WHAT YOU'LL DO?

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ESG Initiatives: Drive ESG goals and coordinate sustainability efforts across the company.
  • Collaborate on ESG Strategy: Work closely with senior leaders to embed ESG principles into daily operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Boost Social Impact: Partner with Responsible Sourcing and Charity teams to enhance social responsibility, locally and globally.
  • Manage ESG Risks: Oversee risk assessments in operations and supply chains to stay compliant with regulations.
  • Represent ESG Efforts: Act as the company's ESG spokesperson for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Inspire the ESG Team: Lead and nurture a team of ESG professionals, fostering growth and impact.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Knowledge

  • In-depth expertise in ESG frameworks (e.g., TCFD, CSRD, CSRDDD) and sustainability regulations.
  • Strong understanding of responsible sourcing, sustainability reporting, and risk management within retail or corporate organisations.

Skills

  • Must-Haves: Leadership, project management, and exceptional communication and advisory skills to drive alignment across multiple functions. Advanced data analysis and reporting abilities.
  • Nice-to-Haves: Familiarity with ESG and sustainability reporting tools such as Sedex and Nasdaq Metrio.

Experience

  • Essential: Proven track record in Head of ESG or similar role and in setting ESG functions, strategies and driving initiatives in mid or large organisations. General understanding of International markets requirements, EU in particular. 
  • Desirable: Experience in transforming business is a plus, second language (e.g. Dutch or French) is desirable but not essential.
