ROLE: Head of Law (Contracts & Information)
LOCATION: London (Office-based, 3 days per week)
RATE: (Apply online only) per day LTD (DOE and interview performance)
CONTACT: 6 months, inside IR35
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on legal services for procurement, contracts, and information governance across the council
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management teams, elected members, and stakeholders.
- Oversee a team of legal professionals, offering guidance, leadership, and professional development.
- Support the Strategic Leadership Team in achieving organisational goals and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Engage and collaborate with clients as well as external stakeholders and partners.
- Fulfil the duties of the Deputy Monitoring Officer, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, CILEx, or Barrister with significant PQE in local government law, particularly in procurement, contracts, and information governance.
- Proven track record in providing legal services within a local authority environment, ideally in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to engage and motivate staff at all levels.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A solid understanding of the challenges and complexities of local authority law and governance.
