Job Overview:

Morson Talent is working on behalf of a leading global infrastructure and design consultancy for a key project aimed at expanding the Southern Sidings at Beckton Depot in East London. We are seeking an experienced Human Factors Consultant to contribute to the concept design phase, focusing on human factors issue identification, task analysis, integration, and report writing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in railway human factors assessments, particularly human task analysis, and experience engaging with stakeholders in both the design and operational aspects of large-scale railway projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Human Factors Issue Identification & Integration: Collaborate with the design team to develop and integrate human factors considerations throughout the design process.
  • Human Factors Task Analysis: Conduct detailed human task analysis on operational activities at Beckton Depot, identifying potential issues related to task performance, safety, and usability.
  • Report Writing: Prepare comprehensive reports, documenting findings from human factors assessments, task analyses, and integration plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal teams (designers, engineers) and external stakeholders (including Transport for London and depot personnel) to ensure human factors are properly integrated into design decisions.
  • Site Visits & Surveys: Conduct occasional site visits to Beckton Depot and potentially Aldgate Office to carry out surveys, gather data, and support the human factors assessments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the design team to ensure seamless delivery of human factors objectives.
Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience in human factors assessments, particularly in the rail sector.
  • Background in human task analysis, ideally within large depot or operational railway environments.
  • Experience with safety, ergonomics, and usability in rail design.
Rail Experience:
  • Experience with Transport for London (TfL) projects or a background working with the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with railway operations, depot environments, and TfL's safety standards will be a major advantage.
Location & Flexibility:
  • Remote working is the primary arrangement, but the candidate must be willing to attend occasional site visits to Beckton Depot and potentially Aldgate office as required.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with occasional, ad-hoc travel for surveys and project discussions.
Contract Details:
  • The role is an inside IR35 contract, with a rate of £69 - £80 per hour depending on experience.
