Interim Director of Housing Standards, Assets and Investment

Location: London, hybrid working

Length: Initial 3-month contract with likely extension

An opportunity has arisen with one of our London based clients for an interim Director of Housing Standards, Assets and Investment. The successful candidate will lead in the delivery of service transformation and improvement projects in housing services that meet the Council’s corporate and business objectives.

Key responsibilities of the Director of Housing Standards, Assets and Investment include:

  • Act as the Council’s strategic advisor on all aspects of housing asset management including procurement of works to maximise the utility of the Council’s entire asset base
  • Ensure the Council achieves high standards in all areas of asset management services and highlights continuous improvement, value for money and effective program management                                                                                     
  • Lead the development, delivery and embedding of our improvement program, including quality improvement, research and best practice and driving innovation in the work
  • Advise senior members of staff on all aspects of the services the post holder is responsible for and support the delivery of its priorities within the Housing service
  • Ensure service is compliant with all extant legal and regulatory requirements relating to the Council’s housing management service and prepared for any forthcoming changes
  • Develop approaches to reshaping and improving the service and investment around new regulatory requirements for building safety
  • Ensure there is effective integration of related services within and across the Directorate and the Council
  • Foster important relationships across the Council with other services driving a holistic outcome for the council’s residents

Essential experience for the Director of Housing Standards, Assets and Investment are:

  • Previous experience within a similar role in a local authority
  • Demonstrable knowledge in asset management, compliancy and building safety
  • Professional property and housing background is a necessity
