Interim Payroll Oracle Fusion Specialist - Local Authority

We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Oracle Fusion Specialist to join a local authority on an interim basis. This crucial role will see you lead key payroll calculations, working directly with the payroll team, Oracle Cloud specialists, and stakeholders to identify, resolve, and test payroll issues in Oracle Fusion, with a particular focus on Term Time Only (TTO) and absence calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Formula Review & Fixes: Lead the review of Term Time Only (TTO) and other pay formulas in Oracle Cloud Fusion. Identify pay formula issues and work with the current System Integrator (SI) to propose and test fixes.
  • Absence Calculation Correction: Identify and correct historical absence calculations, recalculating pay and deduction elements for potentially up to 3 years. Work closely with the SI on testing and implementing absence fixes for the payroll team.
  • Data Collection & Benchmarking: Take the lead on collecting payroll data, benchmarking TTO and other pay formulas against other Local Authorities and providing guidance on best practice Oracle Cloud design.
  • Staff Guidance & Training: Provide training and detailed guidance notes to the payroll team on identifying, testing, and resolving TTO and absence pay formula issues.
  • Project Support: Assist the council's project lead in automating the pay uplift process and transitioning pensioners' payroll to a third-party provider.
  • Schools Payroll Support: Assist the payroll team with schools' leaving processes and ensure accurate payroll data is maintained.
  • Testing & Reporting: Review live payroll runs and work closely with the payroll team to identify, report, and test payroll issues. Ensure all findings and fixes are tested and validated, confirming results to the SI for sign-off.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in Oracle Fusion Payroll with hands-on experience in resolving pay formula and absence calculation issues.
  • Proven ability to work with payroll teams and external system integrators to lead system testing, troubleshooting, and implementation.
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll processes, including Term Time Only (TTO) calculations and absence pay.
  • Experience in providing training and guidance to payroll teams on technical processes and system fixes.
  • Ability to manage complex data collection, benchmarking, and analysis projects to enhance payroll systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working cross-functionally with internal teams and external providers.
