About the Role:

The IP Paralegal will be an essential part of the team, focusing on delivering comprehensive support to fee earners while managing various stages of IP prosecution. The role is designed for someone who thrives in a client-facing position, where they’ll have the chance to handle non-routine tasks, support complex projects, and enjoy significant autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Interaction: Direct engagement with clients, handling inquiries, and ensuring the highest quality of service
  • IP Prosecution Management: Assisting with the filing and prosecution of patent, trademark, and design applications, including managing international applications and overseeing renewals
  • Portfolio Management: Updating and maintaining accurate records in the IP management system, including cross-referencing with third-party databases
  • Mentorship: Supporting the development of junior IP staff and collaborating across teams to share expertise
  • Project Involvement: Contributing to business and system improvement projects

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: Demonstrable track record as an IP Paralegal or similar IP support role with a focus on autonomy and client management
  • Skills: Strong organisational skills, proficiency in MS Office, and experience with IP management software (eg Inprotech) are advantageous
  • Attributes: A proactive, adaptable professional able to work to deadlines in a collaborative environment
