I am currently working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) performing arts school based in Islington, London. The school provides a unique educational experience for students who require a more bespoke approach to their learning, combining academic study with creative arts programs to support their emotional and mental wellbeing.

About the Role:

The school is seeking an experienced Male Behaviour Mentor to join their team. You will be responsible for supporting students who require additional support with their behaviour, providing guidance and mentoring to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with students to develop a trusting and supportive relationship, helping them to overcome any barriers to learning and develop positive behaviour patterns.

  • Providing support for students both inside and outside of the classroom, including group and individual sessions.

  • Working closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and provide feedback on the effectiveness of interventions.

  • Developing and implementing strategies to support students with their academic progress, including providing support with Maths and English where necessary.

  • Contributing to the development of the school's behaviour policies and procedures, ensuring that all students feel safe and supported in their learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, working with students with SEMH needs.

  • A strong understanding of Maths and English, with relevant qualifications.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.

  • A patient, caring and empathetic approach to supporting students with behavioural needs.

  • An understanding of the importance of creative arts in supporting emotional and mental wellbeing.

  • An ability to work as part of a team and to use your own initiative to support student progress.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
